This is one in a small series of superb portraits in our possession by the hand of the British painter Suzanne Taylor (1910-1962), of which we unfortunately know very little. The subtle touch and expressionist sensibility is astonishing. A great and insufficently known artist.

This tantalizing portrait is a work by the acclaimed Belgian artist René De Pauw (1887-1956). It is painted on hardboard, signed by the artist and set in an elegant period frame. Overall size is 20 x 21”.
A typical work of the Belgian school of this period. Its Bruges-born author moved to Brussels after the first world war while making frequent excursions to the Belgian coast where he cherished subjects as port scenes, café interiors and portraits. De Pauw has decorated several public buildings and his work is present in national musea.

Vintage double portrait, pastel on paper, in a period frame. Overall size is 17 x 23”.
This high-quality pastel painting dates from the 1930-40's and originates from Germany. The similarity between the two depicted girls should prove them sisters or close relatives. The unknown artist is showing great maturity in pastel technique. The frame has recently been glazed and the back of the painting protected with board.
