A vivid landscape painting on board from the late 40's-early 50's, signed by the artist and set in a sober period frame. Overall size is 17 x 21”.
A work by a certain Stoppani, probably Maurice Stoppani (1921-?), French artist known for his landscapes. Depicted here is a mountain range from the Pyrenees; the backside annotation precises the location as 'mountainwards of Cauterets', a well-known town in the area. Interesting is the cubistic rendering of vegetation and architecture. Very much influenced by Cezanne.

A winter day in Stockholm - Swedish (1930's)
An evocative urban landscape painted on stretched canvas, set in an elegant period frame and dating back to pre-second world war times . Overall size is 17 x 21”.
This quality oil shows the today disappeared buildings that once lined the quays (Stadsgarden) of the most southern of the isles making up the inner part of the Swedish town of Stockholm. At the left we recognize the church of Saint Catherine. The unknown artist has managed to capture and render the typical skies that but faintly light the long winter days in this the most northern of capitals. A precious souvenir for anyone who has experienced the Stockholm winter blues!

German school – Original antique oil painting, first quarter 20th century, signed A. Eger
Coastal landscape - German (1900's)
A precious landscape painting to be dated 1902-1907, painted on card, signed by the artist and set in its original wooden oil-gilt Jugendstil frame. Overall size is 12 x 13”.
A work by Agnès Eger (1878-?), an acclaimed and listed belle époque artist from Germany. It is a baffling Baltic Sea landscape painting presumably picturing a scene somewhere around the once fashionable resort Sellin close to the polish border, but
seemingly at the crossroads of northern and southern Europe (northern thatched roof, southern-like pine trees). Faithful to the Zeitgeist of her time, Eger brings us a dreamlike imprint of reality.Very representative of the Jugendstil movement.
To the right: a portrait by Eger from the same epoch Junge met Stoffhündschen
Subject: A view of a thatched cottage surrounded by pine trees and overlooking a distant sea, a perplexing subject and enigmatic setting. Materials: thin layered oil painting on card, elegant original period wooden oil-gilt frame. Condition: Excellent
