Bruges Fine Art                   

Most of the artwork presented here belongs to the various schools and movements of the approximate period 1870-1950. You will also find pieces from earlier and later currents as well as some modern paintings. The main focus is on Europe although the States are sometimes represented. The great majority is priced well below $5000.

More than just considering the pecuniary side as collectable value, my approach is essentially aesthetic and the common denominator to all pieces in my collection is that they blend their decorative qualities with their Fine Art Stature. The term 'decorative' excludes by no means the Fine Arts.

 Consequently you will find work in all ranges; celebrated artists as well as unknown names and also a lot of anonymous  work. Typical of the chosen period, and particularly in regard to the oils,  is the ornamental framing, often with full or partial gilding. Framed art is by essence decorative; the wilful absence of framing brought to modern painting a particular and new dimension.
