The relative importance of listed artists 

As I collect on the secondary market, some pieces in my collection have quite naturally been sold in traditional auction settings and some of the artists in my portfolio are even household names in auction rooms. This gives the work a value precedent and assures the artist of a more general recognition as an author of collectible art.

If your concern is investment, the listed artists in my collection (i.e. that have an auction sale precedent that has been archived and is publicly available) may be of particular interest you.

Know that the price that you pay to a dealer or a fellow collector is always a multiple of the mean auction price for an artist. This is quite normal and correct.
